For my art show this the year, I decided to experiment with cut out decorative designs in my pots. Using an exacto knife, I made the cuts on my pieces when they were at the leather hard clay stage. I incorporated the same petal shape, in a variety of patterns on each piece. I enjoyed the creativity in creating my body of work. My work showcases a variety of glazes-- giving each pot a different look. I’m happy with my final show.
Below is my Spring 2017 Slip Trailing Collection
For my spring show, I decided to try out a technique that interested me called slip trailing. All my pots in the show are black and white to maintain a classic, simple look. I mixed my own slip and added in black mason stain to some of it to achieve the black slip seen in my art show. I loved experimenting with different slip designs and techniques-- from dots to more intricate flowers and vines. I am happy with the outcome of my final work. Below is a picture of my show displayed.
